The Bryophyte Checklist contains 1,388 accepted names of bryophyte (moss, liverwort, and hornwort) genera, species, and infraspecies that are known to occur in Alaska. Additionally, the Checklist contains 2,778 misapplied names, spelling variants, and synonyms. James Walton, Martin Hutten, and Brian Heitz revised the names for bryophytes. Instructions
Use the filters and search boxes below to explore the checklist. The “All Names” field includes all names that have been applied or misapplied in Alaska for each accepted name. The “Accepted Name” field shows accepted taxa. The “Status” field shows the relationship between the applied/misapplied name and accepted name. The source field contains links for the material from which a name was accepted.
Both name fields can be searched at once by typing queries in the main search block above the table. Other fields can be search for in the main search block as well. For example, life-forms can be searched for by typing “tree”, “shrub”, “dwarf shrub”, “forb”, “graminoid”, etc., into either the main search block or the “Habit” field.
To download the results of a query, select “All” in the number of rows and then click the desired download format. Queries that display thousands of rows may take several minutes to load.
